Issaquah beats Jackson in 1st round at State

Final Score Issaquah 56, Jackson 44

Issaquah jumped out to an early 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter, and the Eagles never looked back after that.

Issaquah (19-6) led by at least six the rest of the way after Brian Watson’s 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter gave the Eagles a 22-12 lead. Watson double-clutched on the shot and got it off just before the buzzer blasted.

Ty Gibson led Issaquah with 18 points and Trevon Ary-Turner added 12.

The Eagles remained in control throughout. Jackson (23-2) didn’t play well on defense and struggled to rebound, coach Steve Johnson said. Jason Todd led Jackson with 17 points and Dan Kingma added 15.

Jackson cut Issaquah’s lead to six in the second half but couldn’t ever get over the hump.

Issaquah plays Garfield in the 4A semifinals tonight at 7:15. Issaquah handed Garfield its only loss of the season. Jackson plays Kentridge.
