Coaches & Staff

Position: Varsity Head Coach

Pat De Smet enters the 2017-18 season as his 1st year as the Varsity Head Coach at Issaquah
High School. He has worked as the Head Coach at New Hope Christian College and Hazen
High School; as well as Bellevue Christian and Battle Creek (MN) Junior Highs. He has had
assistant coaching duties at Augustana University (SD), Pacific Lutheran University, Redmond
High School, and Issaquah High School.

After playing High School basketball for 2 Minnesota Basketball Hall of Fame Coaches, Pat
went on to play point guard at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (MN). He played his final 2
years of college basketball at Augustana University, in Sioux Falls, SD, where he earned BA
degrees in Fitness Management; as well as Health, PE, and Recreation. Coach De Smet has a
Masters degree from Northwest Baptist Seminary (now Corban Graduate School of Ministry),
and is certified through the NSCA as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS).



Position: Varsity Assistant Coach

Coach Humphreys was the starting point guard as a junior on a 30-0 State Championship team during the 1999-2000 season in Oakland Oregon. The following year the team won their fi rst 26 games to set a state record of 56 straight wins that still stands. Humphreys played college basketball at Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Oregon where his team lost in the National Championship game in overtime during his fi nal season. Coaching since 2005 as an assistant varsity and JV coach at his alma mater in Oakland he has been part of two more State Championship teams in 2006 and 2013.

At Northwest Christian University Humphreys graduated with a Bachelors in Education and has been teaching high school math for the past 8 years.
